What causes cracks in the gear oil pump housing of a slag scraper?

The gear pump of the excavator, also known as the large pump, is prone to cracking and end face oil leakage during use. Possible causes of gear pump housing fracture analysis:

1. The pilot pressure valve or relief valve in the small excavator's working distribution valve is stuck, the system oil circuit is in a closed state, and the system pressure rises infinitely, leading to large pump cracking;

2. The operator did not follow the manual requirements and adjusted the pressure without authorization, causing the system pressure to exceed the specified value, which can also easily lead to large pump cracking. An effective solution to the large pump cracking problem based on practical experience is to turn the pilot pressure adjustment screw clockwise by one turn, which can increase the system pressure by approximately 3.0~4.0MPa; conversely, the system pressure can be reduced by approximately 3.0~4.0MPa. In addition, the decompression grooves on both plates should be installed in the high-pressure chamber of the gear pump to prevent the pump from experiencing "oil trapping," which can cause pump cracking.

Many friends also want to know what causes oil leakage in the gear pump of the excavator? Let’s analyze it:

1. Due to long-term exposure to high pressure inside the small excavator's working gear pump, the connecting screws of the left and right pump covers and the pump body are stretched, causing loosening and oil leakage;

2. Radial cracks, scratches, or damaged oil seals on the pump cover or pump body can also cause oil leakage. Effective solutions to gear pump oil leakage issues: Regularly (approximately every 6 months) check whether the screws are loose. Sometimes, due to the shallow depth of the screw holes in mining excavators, the screws cannot be tightened.
